Rachel Mannam is an India-qualified lawyer who joined the HAS Law Firm team as an Associate Lawyer with the DIFC, ADGM and Arbitration department in August 2023 and was promoted to Senior Associate in January 2025.
Rachel’s dispute resolution experience of over six years in Delhi, India and over five years in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, has enabled her to successfully complete various types of cases over a broad spectrum of disciplines such as Banking and Finance, Construction, Intellectual Property, Real Estate and Employment.
She has appeared and assisted before all levels of the judicial system in India, including the Delhi and Madras High Courts as well as the Supreme Court of India.
In the UAE, she has assisted on cases pleaded before the DIFC and ADGM Courts, and before tribunals constituted by the DIAC, ICC, LCIA and other such arbitral institutions.
Her cross-border experience has enabled her to effectively adapt to the procedures and workings of different types of courts and tribunals.
She has a keen interest in construction law, and has spearheaded many of the team’s construction disputes

Recent Cases:
- Secured a temporary injunction from the DIFC Courts for a client’s luxury asset.
- Successfully negotiated the settlement and ultimate dismissal of a freezing order for a maritime company and avoided the client from being held in contempt.
- Ensured the transparency of the selection process of members of a tribunal in an ad hoc arbitration, by successfully challenging the independence of the tribunal.
- Advised a large yacht manufacturing company from the Middle East on two arbitrations relating to the implementation of internal software.
- Defended against an Immediate Judgment claim of over USD 50,000,000 filed against the client by a major bank.
- Leading strategy and case management of a claim against an online trading platform before the ADGM Court of First Instance for USD 1,000,000
- In India, Rachel worked with one of the leading law firms in Intellectual Property and was involved in one of the first standard essential patent (SEP) disputes in the country.
- She was also involved in the landmark case before the Supreme Court of India which struck down Section 66A of the Information Technology Act as being unconstitutional and which read down Section 79 and limiting the liability of “intermediaries” (Google, Facebook and other such platforms) for content posted by users.
